There was an announcement made last week on the Yahoo! Search Blog that Yahoo! has indexed more than double the documents their main search engine competitor has. Never to take a blanket announcement as hard truth, a team of bright NCSA researchers have cried foul on the Yahoo! statement, casting suspision on the claim of 19.2 billion indexed documents to Google's 8.1 billion documents.
Now Slashdot and The Wall Street Journal have picked up the story, and I even heard mention of it on CNN Headline News this afternoon. It's good to know that a couple of great minds in San Fran.. err.. at NCSA are keeping in check the big guys in the search engine bizz.
